URMA milling – precise, reliable, and efficient

The proven, high-precision URMA RX quick-change interface is one of the core technologies found in URMA milling systems. The one-off compensation of axial run-out errors on the machine side, by means of a simple adjustment mechanism, guarantees perfect axial run-out without the need for subsequent correction when changing blades. The multi-bladed milling disc made of solid carbide offers maximum stability and rigidity. This prevents vibrations and micro-blowouts, even at high speeds, thus increasing the service life and the quality of the components.

Milling of aluminium with PCD

Aluminium is a relatively soft metal. As a result, and also on account of chemical reactions with certain cutting materials, aluminium tends to stick to the cutting material (forming a built-up edge). Diamond cutting edges, such as polycrystalline diamond (PCD), do not chemically react with aluminium or other non-ferrous metals and maintain their dimensional stability and wear resistance on account of to their high hardness. PCD is a synthetically produced diamond cutting material that comes close to the hardness of a natural diamond. As such, tools with PCD cutting materials are perfect for milling lightweight materials such as aluminium, magnesium, copper-containing metals without iron, composites and fibre-reinforced plastics.

MX diamond: aluminium and light metal

With MX diamond, URMA offers a modular milling tool for non-ferrous metal machining. Thanks to the large number of PCD cutting edges, this shoulder and face milling cutter is ideally suited for machining aluminium and non-ferrous metals in high volumes.

Milling of steel with CBN

CBN (cubic boron nitride) is ideal for machining cast iron, powder metall and hardened steel. These materials require high wear and heat resistance of the cutting material. CBN does not chemically react with these materials, which means that it retains its hardness and dimensional stability even at high temperatures and prevents the formation of built-up edges. As CBN is almost as hard as diamond, it is ideal for milling abrasive and hard materials, where conventional cutting materials quickly reach their limits.

MX boronite: Cast iron, hardened steel and powder metallurgical materials

MX boronite is a modular milling tool with CBN cutting edges and is perfectly suited for the efficient machining of abrasive and hard made of cast iron, powder metalland hardened steel – even for mass production.

Quick-change system for ease of handling

The MX interchangeable head system makes it easy to change the cutting edges directly on the machine – without additional readjustment.
