New URMA Experience Center Building

Competence Center for Additive and Subtractive Manufacturing

In addition to producing and distributing precision tools, we expanded into a second line of business – machine trading – more than 20 years ago. As both areas continue to grow successfully, we are now establishing a second Swiss URMA location in Mägenwil with the new Experience Center.

The 3,600 m² property in the “Büntli” industrial and commercial zone in Mägenwil is ideally suited for URMA’s new Experience Center. In addition to office space, it will feature a spacious exhibition area for CNC machines, 3D printers, post-processing equipment, and other machining-related products. In a modern showroom, visitors will be able to experience the various machines up close and gain in-depth insights into additive manufacturing (3D printing) across the entire production chain. The space concept also includes meeting rooms and an auditorium that will be used for training, technology transfer, and events.

With the construction of the Experience Center, the largest competence center for industrial 3D printing in Switzerland is taking shape. As a family-owned company, regional roots matter to us: “We are very pleased to have found the ideal location for our second site in the Mägenwil commercial zone,” says Yannick Berner, Co-CEO of URMA.

January 2026: Spaces take shape and ideas become tangible

The new year opens a new chapter – and makes the progress at our construction site in Mägenwil clearly visible. Step by step, the URMA Experience Center is taking shape, and with each construction phase, the vision behind it becomes more tangible.

The current focus is on interior construction: what previously existed only on plans and in concepts is now becoming a physical reality.

While construction work continues to move forward, preparations for the move are already underway behind the scenes. We are looking forward to bringing the Experience Center to life very soon – and to welcoming you in person.

September 2025: Spaces grow, forms connect

Progress on our construction site in Mägenwil continues steadily: the basement, the ground floor, and now also the upper floor have been completed. This means the basic structure of the URMA Experience Center is now fully visible!

A real highlight is the large staircase in the auditorium, connecting the ground floor to the upper floor. It not only provides practical seating for trainings and presentations but also sets a strong architectural statement. In addition, the round windows give the new building a modern touch.

With every construction milestone, the Experience Center gains more character — and we look forward to keeping you with us as the next stages take shape...

May 2025: Brick by brick – the Experience Center grows

Spring is bringing not only warmer weather but also visible progress on our construction site. Large parts of the ground floor are now in place, and the spatial structures are becoming more defined with each step. Every stage of construction brings us a little closer to our goal – the vision of a modern place for exchange, innovation, and customer experience.

March 2025: The shell of the building takes shape

After a quieter period during the winter months, work on the construction site is now moving ahead in great strides! The structural work has begun, the foundation is already in place, and the first walls have been built. Step by step, the building is taking shape – and with every phase of construction, our vision becomes more tangible.

October 2024: Excavation is complete

We’ve reached our first milestone: the excavation for the new URMA Experience Center in Mägenwil is complete. Now the construction of the competence center can officially begin!

We look forward to this next step into the future and will keep you updated on the upcoming progress!

August 2024: Groundbreaking ceremony takes place

With the groundbreaking on August 21, 2024, construction officially began on URMA’s second Swiss location. This marks another important step in developing the Experience Center and keeps us on schedule.

The establishment of this center will create the most significant competence hub for industrial 3D printing in Switzerland. “This new building is of great importance to us and highlights the innovative strength of the canton of Aargau. Through close collaboration with the canton, universities, and research institutions, we are creating a unique transfer center for innovation and additive manufacturing,” says Yannick Berner, Co-CEO of URMA.

Sustainability as a corporate goal, including in new construction

Sustainability is an integral part of URMA’s corporate goals. It also plays a central role in the construction of the new Experience Center: the center will be equipped with a photovoltaic system that will cover 100% of the site’s energy needs from its own production. In addition, a ground probe combined with a modern heat pump will ensure energy-efficient heating and cooling of the building. With these measures, we are consistently pursuing the goal of minimizing the ecological footprint of the new site and contributing to the promotion of renewable energy.

The URMA Experience Center in Mägenwil will thus not only be a hub for technological innovation and progress but also a showcase project for environmentally conscious construction and sustainable corporate development.
