CBN is a synthetically produced, very hard cutting material and is considered the second hardest known tool material after PCD. Its high thermal hardness and wear resistance make it particularly suitable for machining hard and abrasive materials.
CBN is used in the URMA MX boronite system — a face/shoulder milling system with adjustable axial runout — to achieve the highest requirements for flatness and surface quality when machining cast or hardened mechanical components.
Typical materials: hardened steels, cast iron, powder-metallurgical materials.
